Galiano Island is the perfect island for a getaway. Set in the Salish Sea, our island is accessible by seaplane, private boat or with BC Ferries so you can bring your car with you. Galiano's pristine environment boasts many unique and endangered plant species as well as being home to over 150 species of birds. You'll also see deer, beavers, raccoons and even peacocks! Our coastlines are full of life and spotting orcas, humpbacks, seals, otters, and sea lions is an incredible experience that you will never forget.

We have a vibrant culture here and days can be filled with visits to art studios, local shops, marina, golf course, cafes and eateries. Outdoor adventure experiences are always waiting: hiking, swimming, beachcombing, kayaking, sailing and more. Relaxation is ever-present and reflected in our "island time," one of those delightful double entendres: On the one hand it refers to pace, a certain slack attitude towards the clock. But it also refers to time well spent, away, in a place that refreshes the spirit and cleanses the soul.

‍‍‍‍‍‍BC Ferries: From the Tsawwassen Ferry Terminal on the mainland, we're only a short 50 min ride away, and often the first stop. Reservations are highly recommended. If you are coming to Galiano from Vancouver Island, take the ferry from Swartz Bay. Get there early as reservations are not available. Visit BC Ferries or call 1-888-223-3779 (1-888-BCFERRY).

By air: Seair Seaplanes travel daily between Downtown Vancouver or the Vancouver International Airport, and Galiano's Montague Harbour.

By private boat: Montague Harbour Marina offers moorage with power and a gas dock. They can get crowded in the high season so we recommend booking ahead. A public dock is located near Montague Harbour Marina and another in Montague Harbour Marine Provincial Park. While mooring buoys cannot be reserved, the harbour is well sheltered should you need to anchor.

Galiano Island‍‍‍

Galiano is a temperate rainforest and beautiful hiking trails have been created to take you through magical forests of cedars and Douglas fir spotted with the endangered Garry oak as well as arbutus growing out of rocky outcrops on our shoreline. Montague Harbour Marine Provincial Park is a wonderful place for a picnic followed by tide pool exploration!

Galiano has numerous beautiful beaches with shore accesses clearly marked. The white shell beach at Montague Harbour Marine Provincial Park is one of several shell middens found on the island, which is evidence of native occupation dating back more than 3000 years. Many of Galiano's trails will lead you to the beach that is the perfect match for your preferred activity: swimming, sunbathing, or beachcombing!

Exploring Galiano's shoreline by foot or kayak will take you on a spectacular visual experience. You'll discover unusual sandstone formations that are truly natural works of art. Eagles, herons, and cormorants will be your companions and you'll spot colourful starfish and anemones dotting the shoreline.  Learn more about Galiano Island, please visit GalianoIsland.com.
